Over 600 rallied in front of the State of Illinois building Thursday to protest billions of dollars in cuts to human services passed by the General Assembly.
Protesters held signs featuring the names and faces of legislators who voted against the income tax increase needed to prevent the cuts and put Illinois financially back on track for the future.
Groups representing seniors, children, and working families spoke out about the need to protect health care, education, youth programs, child care and a number of other vital human services from these devastating cuts, and called on legislators to prevent catastrophe for the hundreds of thousands of Illinois families who depend on these programs.
